Fall 2012 Faculty Meeting

Fall "Precision Student Discount Day": Thursday, September 6th from 10am to 2pm at NRG campus in room 3112. They will sell inks, papers and other supplies. This is the only day Precision will offer discounts on basic supplies.
Lighthouse: Faculty need to update their syllabus, supply lists, and End-of-Course Outcomes on their Lighthouse page. Outcomes are listed in your printed syllabus under the course description.
Department Repair Requests: If you are having issues and would like to submit work orders for phone/internet or facility repairs at NRG or SPS please send that request through Kat. It is necessary for requests to be submitted through our dept. office. Generally the college facilities department doesn’t notify the department when a request has been made by a faculty member.
Print Show Shifting to Thursday: Print show shifting to Thursday instead of Wednesday for the fall and spring shows.
Prints still due Monday last week of the semester

Need Photos of Photo Department Media: We are getting more requests for images of faculty teaching in labs, students in classes, and general photography department facility images for articles about the department or for ACC promotional material. I could also use some help from faculty to organize and create images for the department to use for general promotional material.

Hourly for 2012: will remain Cristine East, Kyle Pierce and Robert Gomez to help faculty with class needs. Hours available will be posted in the adjunct faculty office. Please contact them at 223-4463 or in room 3149 for general assistance.

Lost and Found: Student lost and found will be located in Lori’s office in the bottom black file drawer. Please make sure your students remember to retreive their belongings. If you place items in the lost and found drawer, please note when and where you found the item and your name so we can do our best to locate the owner. PLEASE have your students put their names on their items.

Blog Page/ Blackboard: If you want to add a Blog or Blackboard page to your faculty page send Kat the link and she will add it.

Prerequisites: On your class roll make sure your students have met the required prerequisites for your class.

NO Soft Grading: Reminder - if a student is not doing well in your class, it’s important to grade students according to the work they are submitting. Soft grading can create failure for the student in future classes.

Withdrawing Students: If students are withdrawn from your classes please send a note to corresponding lab/camera class faculty as well as Lori & Cristine so they can make sure any equipment checked out to that student is returned.

Equipment Checkout:  We will collect student information for the purpose of students checking out department equipment. Within the first week of school have the students email you their information through the ACC Google mail, compile a sheet with your class information and list of students and forward that to Lori in order for your students to be eligible to check out equipment. Students CAN NOT check out equipment until Lori receives this sheet. Only pertinent to classes eligible for equipment.

ACC Fall General Assemble 2012: Friday, August 24th at Hyatt Regency downtown.
General Assembly welcomes all ACC faculty and staff to a new fall semester. This day-long mini-conference includes a State of the College Address by Dr. Richard M. Rhodes, ACC President/CEO and Dr. Enrique Solis, Interim Executive Vice President and Provost.
The keynote speaker Dr. Mark David Milliron, Chancellor of Western Governors University, will present "Emerging Insights on Learning, Technology, and the Road Ahead in Education…" addressing the key factors that drive positive change in education. All ACC employees are invited to attend and professional development credits will be awarded with supervisor approval. The morning event is free and requires no pre–registration. QEP - Quality Enhancement Plan 



ACC's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a course of action to improve student learning. Although it is a requirement for accreditation, it also is an opportunity for the college to enhance its overall quality and effectiveness by increasing student achievement in a single, critical area. According to accreditation standards, the QEP must be focused, grounded in ACC's mission, and connected to its strategic plan.

Spring 2012 Faculty Meeting Information

Classes Start Tuesday, January 17th. Semester starts on Tuesday. Monday is MLK day school closed.

Last semester there were at least a dozen hard drives turned in. If you find something and plan to put it in the lost and found please put when and where you found it and your name so we can try and track student down. Shouldn't have to tell students but seems we need to remind them…PLEASE have your students put their names on their supplies.

FERPA: Please review attached link with FERPA information generated by ACC. The Photography department we will no longer store copies of grades. You will need to keep copies for your records incase there is question on final grades. Grades can be challenged up to 1 year. http://www.austincc.edu/business/documents/FERPA.pdf
