Meeting Minutes: 1-13-2011

IMAGING USA:
If you have students that are volunteering at Imaging USA they may miss Thursday and Wednesday the first week. Bill said to give them an excused absence but ok to ask for proof they were working there.

PREREQUISITES: On your class roll make sure your students have met the required prerequisites for your class.

NO SOFT GRADING: If a student is not doing well in your class it’s important to grade students according to the work they are submitting. Soft grading can create failure for the student in future classes.

SKILL CODE ENFORCMENT: Bill would like to get input from faculty to see, as a department, if we should enforce Skill Codes for math-english-writing before a student can enroll in our classes? If you're interested in replying email Bill directly.

NEW ADJUNCT FACULTY: Jonathan Allen will be teaching Advanced Imaging Lab and rehire-Stacy Sodolak will be teaching Fundamentals.

NEW HOURLY: Cristine East will be our new hourly this spring. Kyle Woods accepted a full time photography position at the State Capitol. We wish them both luck..

REPAIR REQUESTS: If faculty submit work orders for phone/internet or facility repairs at NRG or SPS please send that request through the department first.

LIGHTHOUSE: Faculty add supply lists and End-of-Course Outcomes to your Lighthouse pages. Outcomes is listed in your printed syllabus under the course description.

LOST AND FOUND: Student lost and found will be located in Lori’s office in the bottom black file drawer. Please make sure your students remember their hard drives and jump drives in labs. Last semester there were at least a dozen hard drives turned in. If you find something and plan to put it in the lost and found please put when and where you found it and your name so we can try and track student down. Shouldn’t have to tell students but seems we need to remind them…PLEASE have your students put their names on their supplies.

BLOG PAGE/BLACKBOARD: if faculty want to add a blog page or Blackboard page to your faculty page send Kat the link and she will add it.

ADDITIONAL CLASSES: Bill anticipates enrollments to continue to increase and has added classes to next year’s schedule including an extra Fashion, Expressing, lab classes and 5 Intermediates.

BUDGET CUTS: The college has cut equipment and repair budgets for next year so there won't be purchasing any new equipment but will be able to repair broken equipment.
